Met up with a couple of my friends last night for dinner. These are wonderful people who had kept silent on their plans way back in December 2004, and sprang a lovely surprise on me while I was in the States. They only gave me the heads-up just 3 - 4 days prior to their arrival in Pittsburgh. Their surprise visit was very heart-warming. I thank God for them. To me, one’s a gentle giant and the other is purely gentle.

The couple is a husband and wife team, and have just recently returned from Cambodia after having spent 15 months there. The length of stay wasn’t what they had committed themselves to, but circumstances determined otherwise. Yet their hearts still remained tender, and their minds attuned both towards God and in obeying His calling in their lives. Now they are back in their own country, in the process of moving back into their cosy love nest, and meeting and catching up with friends whom they consider dear to them. Bittersweet.

I’m glad to see them again. I’ll remember their kind gesture toward me as friends from afar and from home.
